Welcome to Draycott & Rodney Stoke Church of England First School

ABOUT US

Welcome to our web site.
We are a small Church of England First School situated in the northern part of Somerset, between Cheddar and Wells. Our buildings are a mixture of old and new hugging the side of the Mendiip Hills which rise above our playground, and the moorland called the Levels down below the school.
We are a small school of 65 to 80 children aged from 4 to 9 (Reception to Year 4) divided into 3 classes.
Our children mainly come from the two villages of Draycott and Rodney Stoke with some coming from Cheddar which is only about half a mile away.
We are part of a group of schools known as The Cheddar Valley Learning Partnership. The group is made up of nine first schools, two middle schools and the upper school The Kings Of Wessex School.
The majority of our children transfer to Fairlands Middle School in Cheddar at the end of year 4.
As a group we work very closely together and there are many opportunities for enriching the curriculum as we are able to draw on the skills and expertise of staff in all the schools.
As a Church of England First School, we are proud of our links with our local church. We have a fortnightly service in the church which all are welcome to come and share. We use the church for school activities and our children join in with the congregation and their parents to celebrate church festivals and events.
As a church school we are keen to demonstarte our Christian foundation through the care we give to all who are part of the school family and our children are taught to respect and care for all those they meet.
Our church inspection states that we are a very good church school.
